Consultant Workplace

As workplace consultant, Silvia de Haan translates organizations' strategy into the best working environment. Her starting point is always that real estate is more than bricks and mortar; it's a tool to help a company move forward. Her advice is independent of trends and fits the strategy and values of the client.

After studying at the Design Academy (Eindhoven), Silvia developed from product designer, interior designer, and project manager into a workplace consultant. During the first 10 years of her career, she worked at renowned design agencies such as Marcel Wanders Studio and Studio Müller Van Tol, where the focus shifted from product design to interiors. She also worked at management consultancy Re-creations as a design and workplace consultant, advising large international multinationals on workplace optimization and interior design.

In 2017, Silvia joined Parella to set up its workplace consultancy branch. In her role, together with her workplace consultancy colleagues, she helps organizations develop a smart workplace concept that fits their way of working and their organizational goals.

The guiding principle of the housing concept

― We often see photos of fantastic, luxurious offices and we love to showcase them too. But this time, we’re going back to basics. Inspired by the work of our client, Laurens Thuiszorg in Rotterdam. Two years ago, we delivered the workplace concept: a spatial program of requirements and a conceptual floor plan that could be applied across the entire portfolio. As always, these calculations, drawings, and stories were captured visually, all within just three pages.

Boosting social health with smart office design

― A modern office design is much more than just a collection of desks and chairs. In an era where hybrid working has become the norm, the office plays an increasingly important role as a meeting place. Social health—the extent to which employees feel connected, safe, and engaged—is essential. Yet, this aspect is often overlooked when designing the workplace. It’s high time to strategically prioritize your office design.

We take a closer look at CO₂ emissions resulting from: the energy consumption of the office commuting the office fit-out In this blog, we zoom in on the impact of renovation and interior design on CO₂ emissions.

Why One Office Works and Another Doesn’t, Even When They’re the Same Size

― Parella had to temporarily relocate the entire office because the building owner was adjusting our indoor climate system. Luckily, a client around the corner had an empty upper floor available, so we moved in. The number of square metres was identical to our own office, so it seemed like it would work out fine.

WHITEPAPER: Seizing opportunities rather than making band-aid solutions

― At Parella, we see that many organizations struggle with creating a healthy office space and work environment. Solutions are often sought in coaching, courses, or challenges, while the foundation, the work environment itself, is overlooked. But how healthy and productive can employees be if they work in a poorly lit, stuffy, or inefficiently designed space? That’s why we wrote this white paper. We want to help organizations structurally embed health in their housing strategy, from choosing a building to designing the workplace.

Future-Proof and Modern Office Design

― At Parella, we don’t just design workspaces that meet today’s demands—we also anticipate the needs of tomorrow. Modern office design is constantly evolving, influenced by new work styles, social dynamics, and technological innovations. In this blog, we highlight the key trends that will define workplaces in 2025. This article, compiled by the Parella Group, includes inspiring real-world examples and photos from our international projects. We showcase how we create workspaces that are not only functional and attractive but also ready for the future.

Speaks about peaks…

― We see this often with many of our clients. We don’t like you to worry about peaks, so we’re happy to provide some solutioons.

Homeoffice Factor

― START TOOL What should the office primarily offer? A quiet workspace, a meeting place, or a specific mix of both. By using this housing survey, you gain insight into how well your work, your company culture, and your home facilities allow for working from home and what this means for your office.
